This innovative expressive arts project combined original music, dance, visual arts and video to illustrate the delightful tale of ‘Patrick’, a story by acclaimed author Quentin Blake. fps media worked in partnership with dance company Ydance, visual illustrator Joanie Jack and composer Stephen Deazley of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to deliver workshops to 5 nurseries across South Lanarkshire.
The concept of the project was to re-tell the story of ‘Patrick’ with each nursery group specialising on an individual chapter from the book. A dance sequence was choreographed for each nursery group which was then performed to a blue screen. The children then produced props, backdrops and costumes to bring the story to life. The different elements were brought together by fps media using various keying techniques including digital animation and motion effects. The end product is an original and delightful multi media DVD.
